BRICS at a Crossroads: Young BRICS Experts on the Future of BRICS

The India Eurasia Research Forum (IERF) takes great pride in announcing the launch of a special report, “BRICS at a Crossroads: Young BRICS Experts on the Future of BRICS”. The report comes at a time when BRICS marks two decades of existence. The expanded BRICS framework has emerged as an important global platform, bringing together diverse states with rising stakes regionally and globally, yet often with differing visions of the international system and competing geopolitical interests.

In 2026, India will host the Eighteenth BRICS Summit on September 12-13 in New Delhi, on the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” BRICS at a Crossroads examines the BRICS journey by asking leading young BRICS experts from Russia, China, South Africa, Brazil, Indonesia and Kazakhstan to share their perspectives on the bloc’s past, present, and future.

The report features expert insights from Irina Bajaj (Russia), Peng Bo (China), Boris Zabolotsky (Brazil), Dylan Mangani (South Africa), Sellita (Indonesia), and Islam Supyaldiyarov (Kazakhstan), covering topics including general perceptions of global order, evaluations of BRICS as an intergovernmental forum, and India’s approach towards BRICS.
